The multi-award winning celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics will be back in Tauranga on Sunday 28th September 2025.
Techweek x SWT
Are you retired and ready to challenge yourself? Or just eager to learn a new skill? Have you ever wondered what computer coding is?
We are running a beginners coding session designed especially for members of the senior community as part of Techweek 2025.
There will be a introductory talk about what computer code is, light morning tea and a chance to try some beginner coding, with help and guidance from our friendly team. All equipment and tools provided.
WHERE: Basestation, 148 Durham St, Tauranga
WHEN: Monday the 19th of May, 10am-11.30am
COST: This is a free event.

Explore the wonders of Matariki through stargazing and storytelling in this special event, hosted in collaboration with the Tauranga Astronomical Society, Tauranga City Libraries, and STEM Wana. Discover the stars that guided our tīpuna, hear pūrākau of Matariki, and deepen your understanding of the connections between science and mātauranga Māori.
FREE event but registration is required. Please note, this event has two sessions, one starting at 5:30pm and one starting at 7pm. Your ticket is only valid for one session. This is a family event, with the evening designed for children. Accompanying adults must stay for the duration of the session, but do not need to book a ticket.

Maker Festival (Makerfest)
MakerFest will bring together people with diverse interests and backgrounds, fostering a sense of belonging and community and provide a supportive environment for makers to thrive. The first event will be held in October 2026.

Tauranga STEM Festival (STEMFest)
STEMFest is an award winning event that welcomes 6,000+ visitors to Tauranga’s CBD. With over 50+ exhibitors, STEMFest is the biggest STEM Festival in the Southern Hemisphere and returns in September 2025.

Tinkd Makerspace
A part of the global maker movement to empower people with knowledge, creativity, technology and skills necessary for a sustainable future. Tinkd is also home to Tauranga Repair Café a free monthly event where broken items and volunteers (who know how to fix things) come together and give objects destined for the landfill a second chance.

STEM in the Community
Delivering STEM outreach and activities. For communities: making STEM subjects accessible by partnering with subject matter experts as part of a series of events. For schools: partnering with experienced content providers we collaborate with primary schools to deliver project based STEM learning for teachers, students and their whānau.
