On Saturday 31st July 2021, our team attended the Tauranga Canvas Careers Expo at Trustpower Arena.
During the day we met with so many lovely young people and their whānau as they came to our brightly displayed (and lit up) space to have a go at some engineering with our Da Vinci bridge building, and being creative with mathematics.
Also popular was our “amazingly enormous STEM poster” produced as a free resource from findingada.com. We were pleased to giveaway smaller versions of the poster for interested young people and their parents and guardians.
The entire STEMFest 2021 team (Tia, Soraya, Ewa, Lisa, Pops, and Alvin) were there to enthusiastically share our plans for STEMFest in October and supporting them was Board Trustee and Founder of Tinkd Makerspace, Steven. There were rumours that Steven had far too much fun chasing unsuspecting visitors with the giant hexapod robot. We can neither confirm or deny his direct involvement.
We were delighted to be next to our friends and Open Source champions ii who had an awesome display to showcase careers and opportunities in cloud computing.
Thanks to everyone who came to talk with us and thanks again to our friends at Canvas Careers Expo and Priority One for letting us be part of this event. We love sharing our passion for STEM and hopefully helping to spark some curiosity and interest from visitors young and old.
