Projects & Community Coordinator

We are seeking an enthusiastic Projects & Community Coordinator to help us plan and deliver engaging workshops, activations, and events that connect and inspire New Zealand’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) community. This flexible role is ideal for a confident, outgoing organiser with event planning experience who enjoys variety and thrives in a collaborative environment, all while contributing to work that makes a real difference.
Location:
Based in our office in Tauranga CBD, with the potential for remote work after onboarding. Occasional travel and extra hours may be required during major events.
Contract Type:
Up to 30 hours a week, fixed-term, independent contractor agreement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with partners to develop and execute purpose-driven events and workshops for children, youth, and adults
- Support and coordinate the Repair Cafe activities to promote community-led repair initiatives
- Assist in the management and support of Tinkd Makerspace, fostering a creative environment for makers and learners
- Assist with preparing funding applications and reports to support our initiatives
- Create and manage project budgets and deliverables
What We’re Looking For:
- A confident organiser with experience in event planning and delivery and background in education
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Familiarity with tools like Google Drive, Trello, Canva, or a willingness to learn
- Proactive, self-motivated but be able to self-manage their workloads
- Flexibility to travel and work additional hours around event dates
- A good understanding of the not-for-profit and funding landscape
- A creative mindset and effective problem solver
